Northern Marshall County between Grant and Guntersville looks like the main track for this possible tornado. Grant is included in the polygon, so people there need to get to shelter and stay there.
1:21 AM - Danielle Dozier is covering this on WHNT-19. The other stations have probably started streaming again since this was issued. But Channel 19 caught this one early when it was still within a severe thunderstorm warning.
1:23 - A new Severe Thunderstorm Warning has come out that affects several counties, but while we've got a tornado warning in effect, will only add that to this post in passing.
I like the way they've drawn this polygon though. It covers from about Joppa and Baileyton through all of Marshall County (Arab, Guntersville, Albertville, Boaz), all of Dekalb County (Fort Payne, Rainsville, Geraldine, et cetera), and Southeast Madison County around New Hope, also Southern Jackson County, places like Scottsboro, Section, and Henagar. Wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible here, and just like that tornado rotation spun up so quickly coming out of New Hope, there is a note that circulations can happen quickly in this area of severe thunderstorms.
1:27 - And here's a look at that polygon on radar.
1:31 - The possible tornado is coming through Grant now, veolicty not looking too tight, but noticing that notch on reflectivity. These kinds of tornadoes can spin up and down quickly. And people in the polygon should stay in a good safe place.
Actually everybody in the severe thunderstorm warning polygon over a much larger area should stay in a good safe place, even if that's just a hallway on the ground floor, until the storms finish blowing through.
1:35 - Franklin, Lawrence, and Limestone Counties have been cleared from the Tornado Watch now. Also in Tennessee, Franklin, Lincoln, and Moore Counties have been cleared from it.
It continues until 3 AM CDT for Cullman, Marshall, Morgan, Madison, Jackson, and Dekalb Counties.
1:37 - And this Tornado Warning has been cancelled. The severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect. And I'll start a new post for the Severe Weather Statement on that.
