Severe Weather Statement

I'd stay sheltered in these areas out of a respect for the history of this storm.

12:05 AM - The National Weather Service in Birmingham mentions that they are watching any discrete cells that form out ahead of the main squall line. Things have calmed down around Tupelo, but storms near Jackson have been intensifying. And those are being watched closely.

12:10 - And here's an example of a tree falling on a house earlier. Fortunately the people inside were okay.

12:13 - Navigating away from a TV station that was streaming but speculating on tiny/very brief areas of rotation on radar that were unwarned. And I don't care for that. The National Weather Service has much more detailed radar than the TV stations do, even if it doesn't update as instantly. And they know how to interpret it. Almost always, if something looks concerning, they're going to issue something - at least a Special Weather Statement. We don't need overhype tonight after several days of grueling severe weather that affected a lot of people over many states. So that station has just lost a viewer tonight.

12:16 - Ah, but not to be a grouch . . . another station is doing a great job of looking at the way the storm moved through Florence and produced a tornado, and where it is now. Doing it the right way, in my opinion. If I said IMHO it would mean "honest opinion", not "humble opinion".

Going to post the new severe thunderstorm warning separately...
