Anywhere in these severe thunderstorm warnings, I'd be in a good safe place as a course of least regret. The environment could spin up a tornado quickly. And even the straight-line winds are dangerous.
If all you have is a hallway or bathroom (without windows) on the ground floor, that's fine, that's a great place to be during this. Wouldn't be around windows on an upper floor, especially if you have got trees around.
1:52 - Far NW Pickens County around Ethelsville has a Tornado Warning, but that's on the fringes, not really in North Alabama. Just mentioning in passing when taking the broad view.
1:54 - Jasper, Fayette, Arley have a special weather statement for strong storms that are under severe limits.
1:57 - And now a Flash Flood Warning for Marion, Lamar, Fayette, and Winston Counties. Does not surprise me.
Fayette is now included in a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for that storm coming out of Pickens County.
2:02 AM - This part of the squall line moving into Cullman, wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour are possible. Any bits of rotation here are staying weak/poorly defined. But they do include a note that this is an environment where a tornado can develop quickly. And we've certainly seen examples of that tonight. So I'd have a healthy respect for these storms.
