Special Weather Statement

This does include Cullman and Hanceville, up to Vinemont and Holly Pond and Baileyton, but this cluster of storms is expected to stay below severe limits. Also the warning earlier for Bremen and other Southern parts of the County was allowed to expire.

10:59 - Emergency manager is reporting that about an hour ago, lighting started a fire in Garden City. It was on First Avenue, lightning struck a home there.

11:01 PM - At this point all the thunderstorms locally have weakened below severe limits. The Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until Midnight.

11:04 - Note from the National Weather Service in Huntsville. Most of these storms now are just going to produce some rain, lots of lightning, maybe some small hail, and some gusty winds below severe limits. The risk of any more storms becoming severe after all this rain-cooled air is very low.

11:14 - And Coyote J. Calhoun is playing some great music as usual on WJLX 101.5 FM in Jasper. He played some King Crimson just a while ago.

11:15 - Storms are staying well-behaved.

11:18 - The severe thunderstorm watch lasts about another 40 minutes.

11:20 - And another report of lightning striking a home, causing electrical damage. This was from 7:20 PM CDT in Lauderdale County on Wheaton Drive in Underwood.

11:29 - And a special weather statement for Wayne and Lawrence Counties in Tennessee. Winds could gust up to 40 mph and some pea-sized hail in this bunch of thunderstorms.

11:43 - Got another damage report from 10:22 PM CDT, a power pole knocked down on County Road 25 in Colony. It was a newspaper report, and the NWS estimates the time based on radar.

12:03 AM Monday - The watch has expired. Severe weather coverage is over for the night.
