Severe T'Storm Warning (Includes Huntsville)

Spoke too soon, some of this is surviving past I-65 tonight apparently.

8 PM - Down in Marion County the warning has been extended to include places like Guin and Winfield.

For this Northernmost storm, everybody from Town Creek over to Athens and Decatur, through the city of Huntsville, places like Triana and all the way to Gurley, good idea to be in a good safe place until this storm passes.

8:02 - And now we've got another one coming from Russellville toward Moulton or maybe Town Creek, will probably pass between those two places on its current track. But they are both in the polygon. Again it's a threat for large hail and damaging thunderstorm winds.

8:04 - So here's sort of the broad view where a broken line is trying to form but these storms are still somewhat isolated. The hail is now estimated to be about quarter-sized and the winds gusting up to about 60 mph.

8:16 - That warning was allowed to expire in the Northern part of Marion County as the storm has weakened and is moving into Winston County. The other warning for places like Guin and Winfield remains in effect until 9 PM CDT. Also the storm aiming at Huntsville is out of Lawrence County now, only affecting Limestone and then Madison Counties. But another severe thunderstorm is moving into Lawrence County behind it. It will likely affect Moulton and smaller communities between there and Town Creek.

8:24 - The warning that included Huntsville is cancelled now, storm weakened. Has been replaced by a Special Weather Statement noting that wind gusts up to 40 mph are possible along with small hail in this storm.

8:26 - The storms in Central Lawrence and Southern Marion Counties are still though to be at severe limits, capable of 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail.

And man that radar is really lagging. Let me see if I can get something more updated . . .

8:29 -We'll look at those storms from Columbus Air Force Base.

8:41 - That storm is coming out of Moulton, aiming at Hartselle, new severe thunderstorm warning polygon.

8:54 - And the storm coming into Huntsville has gone severe again. Ode to joy . . . don't shoot the messenger.

9:08 PM - The warning for Madison and Jackson counties is cancelled, and the one for Lawrence County is about to expire. So that leaves only the one in Marion County, and I believe lemon-sized hail is now considered possible in this storm.

Going to start a new post to focus on that storm.
