Wouldn't hurt to get to that lowest most central part of home away from windows, especially if you have trees around.
8:39 - Blount County also under a severe thunderstorm warning now.
Best place to get is into a small central room away from windows on the lowest floor of a sturdy house - better than being in a mobile home - especially if you've got trees around.
But at least stay inside away from windows if in any of these warning polygons.
8:48 - A guy named Michael Russell reports some large branches on roads at Colony/Hanceville and estimates the winds at about 55 mph.
Just because a tornado warning isn't issued doesn't mean you shouldn't take the storms seriously. Gusty winds ahead of and along this line of storms are causing trees and powerlines to fall. Get indoors and stay safe! #HUNwx pic.twitter.com/l4HeS8nvMZ

8:52 - And once again . . . what they said.
8:54 - And amidst the weather chaos, a cat named Stormy is hissing and spitting at a cat named Salem, who is still trying to make friends with her apparently. They tolerate each other, but I don't know if they'll ever get along or not.
I dread the day I have to try to get both of them in the closet at the same time for a tornado warning. Maybe I can get them on opposite sides of the closet.
9:01 PM - Could also see 50 mph wind gusts in Huntsville, Scottsboro, Fayetteville, Huntland.
9:06 - Earlier I was musing about why I liked that new (to me) meteorologist on FOX-6, Tonia Michele. I think I have identified what I like. She read a comment from a viewer who said, "Get her off the screen." And she laughed about it and said, "Aw, now girl, why you gotta' be so mean? I'm tryin' to protect you here, so I'm callin' you out, girl!"
That was great.
