Half-Baked Semi-Forecast

 Yo, look out for some fog this morning, especially in Northeast Alabama. 

I'm not really planning to post another forecast any time soon unless that tropical system in the Caribbean becomes a hurricane after moving into the Gulf. Even if that happens, it could be this weekend or next week. It is not looking as concerning at the moment as it was. I think I've already given all the relevant information about relief efforts from Hurricane Helene. 

The Weatherbrains podcast did a show the other night about that hurricane, though I haven't had a chance to watch the whole thing yet, or listen. 

We're going to have mostly sunshine around here with Highs in the lower 80's through Sunday, Lows in the lower 60's. The only day we might see some isolated rain is Friday, but this tends to be our driest time of the year, so maybe not even then. 

Then with the passage of a dry cold front, next week will start off with Highs in the 70's and Lows actually down in the 50's. 

Going to be focusing my energies into some other writing jobs that actually pay a little. Actually some are for free but good to get experience, get people to read them, but a few pay a little bit. And this pays nothing even when I do throw a virtual tip jar out there. So with the weather this quiet, not worth putting energy into at the moment. Need to work toward making more decent money from my other writing. Instead of corrupting the forecast discussions here with tasteless jokes about social/political issues and stories about crazy cats I've known . . . or crazy/interesting people. That's the writer side of me screaming for expression over the meteorologist side. And since I never even completed a B.S. degree in meteorology, then for all I know, my efforts at forecasting the weather may be just that: B.S. 

When I do it, I do try to slow down and get all the details as accurate as I can though. The whimsical/flippant tone is just to not be an annoying egghead. 

Anybody along the Gulf Coast, I'd keep an eye on that system coming out the Caribbean, to be on the safe side, but frankly, just watch anything that tries to get rowdy from now through about November, so about another month or so. Because we've had record-warm ocean temperatures this year. That damage from Hurricane Helene really is horrible to see, some of the worst storm damage I've ever seen from anything. And some of the worst is actually up in those mountains of North Carolina and far Eastern Tennessee, where they got flash flooding after the thing had weakened. Seeing entire towns swept away and knowing there is not even communications in those areas . . . very sobering. 

Since I can see that some people do still read this stuff, letting you know, I'm making some time off . . . indefinitely.
