Severe Thunderstorm Warning

8:19 PM - At least one tree reported down in Parrish, also some glass blown out of an office building in Winfield from these storms.

So even though it's straight-line winds, probably a good idea to get into a small central hallway (or something like a bathroom) on the lowest floor of the house.

8:24 - Here is a radar update. They've cancelled the stuff for the Shoals and most of Northern Walker County now, and you can see back in Mississippi, they've had some flash flooding issues out of this.

Warning continues for all of Cullman County, up to Arab, Guntersville in Marshall County, also affecting places like Decatur and Huntsville. Mainly concerned with damaging wind gusts in these storms. But if a tree comes down or a window blows out, that's a big deal for whoever it happens to.

8:32 - And I'm seeing numerous reports of trees coming down with these storms, too many to pass along here across different counties.

8:53 - The warning has been allowed to expire for most of us, but Huntsville is still under the gun for damaging wind potential.

Got some strong straight-line winds moving in there that have the potential to do minor damage like has happened through other parts of North Alabama this evening, mostly to trees, but I also saw a window, or think it was a glass door, blown out by the winds in Winfield. So that can happen too.

9:06 PM - Madison and Jackson Counties remain under the warning until 9:30. And these storms do have a history of damage tonight, just saw another report of trees down in Marshall County this time, in the Nixon Chapel area. This warning polygon does also clip Lincoln County, TN.

If you're in that warning polygon, I'd stay inside away from windows. Best if you can be on the lowest floor of a sturdy house.

Here's the zoomed out radar image I meant to include above.

9:29 - And the storms have weakened below severe limits. All warnings have been allowed to expire.

Except those flash flood warnings back in Mississippi.
