This is about as dangerous as it gets. If you can, get to a storm shelter or a basement.
If you can't, get into a small room on the lowest floor of a sturdy house, near the center, away from windows - and cover your body, especially your head. Wear a helmet if you have one.
Definitely get out of a mobile home if you are in the path of this very dangerous tornado. You'd be better off lying in an unflooded culvert or ditch or even flat on the ground, covering your head. People have survived that way and also by leaving vehicles for something like a ditch. That's a last resort, but it can save a life. Don't be in a vehicle or a trailer for this. Hopefully you can get to a sturdy structure or if you're lucky, a storm pit.
Just in case of any Hispanic readers. Looking out for everybody. This is a particularly dangerous situation.
11:20 - People in Hammondville, Valley Head, and along North of there in Dekalb County, please stay sheltered. This is a confirmed, really dangerous tornado.
11:21 - Broadcast media reporting major damage near Henagar School. Even up to Mentone, be sheltered and stay there.
Even in a basement, get up under something sturdy or in the deepest part, underground if possible. Do whatever you can to protect your body from falling or flying debris. If you have a helmet, wear it. If you have pillows, blankets, or a small mattress, that too can shield your body. Especially protect your head and neck. This is very dangerous. But doing the right things, you can survive it.
11:25 - Remember we also have a Tornado Warning still in effect for the storm South of Pleasant Grove in Jackson County.
Going to make new post for the reissue of PDS Tornado Warning.
