1:26 PM - Wow, some of these storms have been just under severe criteria, even winds estimated over 50 mph but below the threshold of 58 mph. Days like today are somewhat challenging to handle. Had some hail in Vinemont but looks like it was below severe criteria, less than quarter-sized.
We do have several strong thunderstorms in the region. Got a cluster affecting the Shoals and also up to Lawrence and Hickman Counties in Tennessee. Another one moving through Madison County in Alabama, getting close to Ardmore. And more down in Jefferson and Blount Counties. As far as radar and reports can tell, they have stayed under severe limits.
But that's why there were forecasts mentioning the possibility of severe weather today. Imagine if the air was warm and muggy instead of so cool and stable, and we had these same storms. They could really have fired up and done some damage. This was a close call, and it is looking like we all lucked out.

...LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...
A low pressure system will bring precipitation chances to the
Mid-South today. Beginning late in the afternoon, a rain-snow
changeover may develop in northeast Arkansas, the Missouri
Bootheel, and west Tennessee. At the surface, temperatures will
remain above freezing. However, moderate snowfall rates may result
in light accumulations on elevated surfaces. Any accumulation
will likely melt before Tuesday morning, but some travel impacts
may occur this evening.
