We had an overcast, windy day in the Tennessee Valley, with periods of rain. The High in Cullman was 64, and our current temperature of 50 is our Low so far for the day. Temperatures are already starting to drop behind our cold front. Jasper is also down to 50 degrees now, and they saw a High of 66 today. Haleyville saw a High of 63 and are now down to 47. One thing we did not see today was any severe weather. There was a marginal risk for that mainly east of I-65. But the storms stayed below severe limits this afternoon and evening, just produced some gusty winds.
You have to go to South Carolina or the Florida Panhandle to find any tree or power line damage from storms today. And around here, we definitely needed the rain. And it will be the last we see for a while.
So that front continues to push through the region tonight, already bringing us some colder, drier air.
Tomorrow looks to stay breezy and mostly cloudy, though we could see a gradual clearing trend and the sun peeking out at some point in the afternoon. High should be about 45, the Low tonight around 39-40.
Tonight/tomorrow morning and then again tomorrow night, there is some slight concern for a wintry mix of rain and snow up in the Cumberland Plateau of Tennessee, and that could even extend to the higher elevations of Northeast Alabama. But if that happens, little to no accumulation is expected.
Then on Monday, high pressure moves in from the Southwest, the Ark-LA-Tex region. Should have plenty of sunshine Monday and warm up to about 50 degrees after starting the day around freezing.
And it will still be lightly breezy at times, winds shifting to the North.
