Special Weather Statements

For the moment, all the thunderstorms in our immediate vicinity are strong, but are under severe limits. 

Will start a new post if this changes, and any storms become severe again.  

7:40 PM - Just a quick note that Wayne County TN has been cleared from the Tornado Watch, no more severe weather threat there and points Northwest.

7:48 - And my weather radio tripped for another watch. Time to see what that's about . . .

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT FRANKLIN COUNTY THROUGH 800 PM

CST...


At 721 PM CST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8

miles southeast of Red Bay, moving east at 55 mph.


HAZARD...Wind gusts of 40-50 mph and penny size hail.


SOURCE...Radar indicated.


IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around

         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is

         possible.


Locations impacted include...

Russellville, Red Bay, Phil Campbell, Belgreen, Vina, Hodges, Atwood,

Tharptown, Duketon, and Rockwood.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.


A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM CST for northwestern

Alabama.

At 720 PM CST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7

miles southeast of Pulaski, moving east at 30 mph.


HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail.


SOURCE...Radar indicated.


IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around

         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is

         possible.


Locations impacted include...

Fayetteville, Ardmore, Petersburg, Howell, Belleville, Dellrose,

Belleview, Cash Point, Skinem, and Mcburg.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.

Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
