Special Weather Statement


 10:15 PM - Saw a report of a power line down near Merchant's Bank in Fairview. Radarscope said that came from amateur radio. 

10:17 - But for the most part, storms are no longer producing damage, just a lot of rain and lightning, sometimes gusty winds and small hail. 

10:19 - Madison, Morgan, Winston, Marion, and Lamar Counties have now been cleared from the tornado watch. Severe weather threat there and points North and West is over. 

10:34 - Emergency management reports a tree down at Scottsboro, looks like it happened about an hour ago. Storms with torrential rainfall and gusty winds, good bit of lightning, continue to move through Northeast Alabama now. But at the moment, all of it is staying under severe limits still. Technically the tornado watch goes until 2 AM.

...Clusters of strong thunderstorms producing torrential rainfall

will continue from Cullman northeastward to Bridgeport through 1030

PM CST...


At 950 PM CST, Doppler radar was tracking clusters of strong

thunderstorms from Cullman northeastward to Bridgeport. The training

nature of these thunderstorms will result in excessive rainfall

rates and an increasing risk for flooding.


HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 30 MPH, pea size hail and flooding.


SOURCE...Radar indicated.


IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Significant

         ponding of water on roads and minor flooding are also

         possible.


Locations impacted include...

Southern Huntsville, Cullman, Scottsboro, Arab, Redstone Arsenal,

Hanceville, Good Hope, Stevenson, Owens Cross Roads, and Hollywood.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to

localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded

roadways.


Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.

Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe

shelter inside a building or vehicle.


A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM CST for north central

Alabama...and Middle Tennessee. A Tornado Watch also remains in

effect until 200 AM CST for north central and northeastern Alabama.
