Wind Advisory

Okay, somehow the graphic from their webpage is messed up and did not appear here the way it did when I downloaded it. This happens sometimes, and I don't know why. Just imagine that basically all of North and Central Alabama up into Tennessee is covered in that brown shading for the Wind Advisory.

This is not a really big deal like the March 3 event where they had to issue an actual warning for high winds, but still, gusts up to 40-50 miles per hour can sometimes cause minor damage, like to trees. The threshold for a thunderstorm being severe is to have winds of at least 58 miles an hour. That number may seem arbitrary, but it's the same as 50 knots. It's just that most people want to hear it in miles per hour. And we probably will see severe thunderstorms tonight. A few of them could produce tornadoes, even if they are part of one big squall line. The tornado threat is as real as the damaging wind threat.

Stay safe.
