Tornado Watch

12:10 AM - All right, so we still have a tornado for a confirmed, damaging tornado in Wayne, Lawrence, Perry, and Southern Maury counties in Tennessee. Want to be in a small central room on the lowest floor of a sturdy house, not in a mobile home. And cover your head. Basement or storm shelter is best if you have it.

And this is affecting the northern parts of Wayne and Lawrence counties. That warning goes until 12:45 AM CDT. That's what they are talking about when they say in this new Watch that a few strong or intense tornadoes are possible. A few more instances of what they've dealt with up here in Southern Tennessee could happen in other places before the night is over.

12:18 - Hohenwald, Gordonsburg, Summertown are now in the path of this tornado. It may be producing significant damage still.

12:22 - And this storm is developing a secondary velocity couplet right behind this one.

12:24 - Wider view, the squall line is becoming better defined as it moves toward Northwest Alabama. Will be interesting to see how these storms interact with the very favorable environment for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes that exists over Northwest Alabama.

12:27 - The confirmed tornado in TN is moving through Northeast Lawrence and Southwest Maury counties, mainly going to stay over rural areas, but Gordonsburg and Hampshire are included in the path.

12:32 - Squall line organizing better and better. Almost to corner of Northwest Alabama. People in Lauderdale, Colbert, and Franklin counties be getting ready in case the storms rapidly intensify as they cross over the state line.

12:35 - That confirmed tornado unfortunately is heading up for communities like Columbia and Spring Hill. I used to live around there and know some people who still do. If you are in the path, get into your safe place, lowest floor, small central room, away from windows. And protect your head and neck mainly, cover your body in that shelter area somehow. Because this storm has produced significant damage earlier and been confirmed as a tornado several times. Communities like Mount Pleasant, New Hope, also be sheltered, anywhere within this warning polygon. If it's close to you and you're in doubt, I'd go ahead and shelter to be on the safe side.

12:43 - Now a severe thunderstorm warning for places like New Albany, Tishomingo State Park, Wheeler, extends all the way to the Alabama state line. This part of the squall line bears close watching as it crosses the state line. The environment is ripe for storms to intensify rapidly and also to potentially produce tornadoes.

12:46 - For now the rotation in this storm in MS is broad, but watching it closely.

12:49 - And we have an upgrade to a tornado warning.

That goes until 1:30 AM CDT.

12:54 - That tornado now confirmed by debris signature. If you live in a mobile home in far Northwest Alabama, might want to go ahead and get to a safer place before these storms move in. Things could happen fast.

1 AM - Now another Tornado Warning that includes Tupelo. Everyone in Northwest Alabama needs to be watching these storms carefully and be getting ready to take shelter if these storms stay severe as they move into our state. The atmosphere is supportive of severe thunderstorms and a few isolated tornadoes within this line.

1:07 - Warnings will likely be required within next half hour for parts of Northwest Alabama. Remember the northernmost tornado has been confirmed and may be producing significant damage.

1:13 - Both of these storms are radar-confirmed tornadoes. They may be in a squall line but still have supercell characteristics. The tornado damage could be fairly significant.

1:22 - Belmont, Red Bay, go ahead and get to your shelter.
